New Title!

I am quite proud of my new name badge - all my dreams are coming to fruition.  Slowly, but surely.

Megan! You are a midwife? That's great! I've been wanting to talk to a midwife! I'm not pregnant, lol... BUT Don and I have been talking about how we would want to go about having a baby when we someday decide to get pregnant.. and he wants to go the traditional way at a hospital... and I am not sure yet. i wanted to hear the facts about midwifery. I usually lean toward more natural things, but of course I want the baby to be as safe as possible. Don is afraid there would be a lot more risks with a midwife. So I was wondering how does it even work? Are there any monitoring systems and is it always done in a home? Or do you go somewhere? Or.... I dunno, just all that stuff. Basically, neither of us really know anything about it. And I want to learn! :)

Thanks!

Chrissy! I'm starting school to become a midwife! I'm going for Nurse Midwifery, meaning I will get my Master's degree in Nursing. It's two more years on top of my four years of nursing school. Nurse Midwife's can deliver in hospitals and depending on the laws in the state they practice, in homes and birthing centers as well. We're the perfect option for people leaning to go the more "natural route", but you can still deliver safely with a trained medical professional. We practice with doctors as well, in case any complications arise and we need someone with a little more training to step in for surgery or extra advice. I love to talk about it and could ramble on forever, just ask any questions you may have! :)
